About the diploma

May 2015 I took the next step towards getting a fuller understanding of how permaculture can add value to my own life. After completing a Permaculture Design Course in June 2015 followed by Patrick Whitfield’s “Land Course on-line” enrolling for a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design was the obvious next step.

The diploma is a course of self-directed study that takes a minimum of two years. During the course, you are expected to prepare ten designs that demonstrate your ability to apply permaculture ethics and principles and show your competence at using a range of design methods, tools, and skills.

There are two routes to choose from, an independent route and a supported route which is the one I have chosen. This route includes tutorial support with much more guidance and feedback on my design work. Wilf Richards, of abundant earth Durham, is the diploma tutor who will be supporting me throughout this course.

Note - The percentage numbers on the above ten small photographs indicate how far I feel I am on with each design in regards to submitting it for accreditation.
